Release the GOG Galaxy client for linux in progress
Imagine your platform running on all computers...
$ sudo apt-get install gog
Please do this. You will gain so many customers. Steamdeck is a massive success and I want to play ultima lol
+1
is there any news on the client for linux?
Screw galaxy. How about a simple CLI program/daemon that would actually work in Wine for those who want to keep track of achievements?
Heroic Games Launcher, Lutris and Minigalaxy are all pointless look at how many many native Linux games have no multiplayer because no Galaxy which no third party app will ever be able to support, ever it's impossible because no Galaxy SDK.

For example Northgard: Multiplayer notice: GOG GALAXY is required to access online feature Please note that multiplayer is available on Windows and macOS only.
Heroic Games Launcher ist perfectly fine. No need for any "official" release by gog itself.
A private open-source project can implement everything.
An "official" which will most-likely mean "closed-source" launcher will only have the features gog wants.
It would be friendlier to provide help to the Heroic team to implement all features.
I agree there should be gog linx vlient long time ago. It is shame they ignore it.
omg. stop crying. Yes I also hope that there is some nice client for gog in near future. But if you guys switched to linux to have a pleasant gaming-experience with Good Old Games you might be missinformed. Written from a guy who had almost no problems with lutris.
eng: As an alternative, I can recommend Lutris.

rus: В качестве альтернативы могу порекомендовать Lutris.
It feels wrong every time I buy a "license to play" on Steam instead of buying the real game on GOG. But on the other hand I get a working client and good support to play the game under Linux
That would be awesome! I know that it is not that easy but yeah it would be awesome!
+1
If I can't play multiplayer or access other online functions like updates.... I'm beginning to regret buying directly from GoG
Why wont they release it yet?? its not that hard like there are already almost working solutions, just release it with proton support omfg
They confirmed it isn't coming to Linux just give up.

https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/looks-like-gog-galaxy-wont-come-to-linux-any-time-soon-as-its-not-a-priority.10183/page=14/
Very eager to drop Steam library (600+ games) for GOG on Linux.
I'd just like to say that I'm still waiting for Galaxy for GNU/Linux and hope one day it'll finally be available so I can nicely monitor how much time I spent playing each game. Even a simpler version of Galaxy would be good enough, something like Galaxy Lite or whatever.
https://www.gog.com/game/axis_allies_1942_online

Has no Linux port on GOG but does on Steam because no galaxy thanks GOG.
Seriously, I just want to play multiplayer games that you have in your store which require the DRM you've baked into Galaxy. I assume it's just an OAuth token or something, and even a very light linux client could enable e.g. Stardew Valley multiplayer with friends.

I am far too lazy to set up VPN tunnels for LAN play over internet, and your appalling level of MicroSoft integration prevents Galaxy from running reasonably via WINE.
You can also just use lutris as launcher. but that is not the point. i can not claim my rewards or update the game that way.
Just use the Heroic games launcher, it works with GOG now, CD Projekt Red ain't gonna make their own client for Linux so it's better than nothing.
Just to add my comment here, you guys already lost 3 sales. I have a Steam Deck coming in a few weeks, with every game I take it into consideration how easy it will be to install it on this device and wheter I can use cloudsave, GOG loses out on this big time because of a non existing client. Sorry, not too many people will install Windows on the Deck, you guys really need to get your act together or you will miss this opportunity. Either way even if I wan to to buy from Gog and I really do it will be Steam from now onwards because of the Deck!
+1 from alpine linux
want flatpak version
We also don't have game patches and need to download the entire game every update because of GOG PR department lies.
"In-Progress..." - Was it ever really?
They still not budging for multiplayer & cloud save API?
I only went back to using Steam because of their Linux support. With the Steam Deck coming out and Windows getting even more pushy with their OS I've decided to make Manjaro my daily driver and I feel like I'm not the only one moving over to Linux.
There won't be a Linux GoG client. The community has asked for a Linux client for years - but GoG is just silent about it. Even with the Steam Deck (now released) the only statement is: "Install Windows on the Steam Deck to play GoG games." Very sad... I have hundreds of games on GOG, but since I realized that there won't be any Linux support, I stopped buying on GoG. I would love to come back, because I love DRM free gaming, though.
I also would like to see GOG Galaxy on Linux. Also in regards to the Steam Deck!
+1 linux support!!!
Honestly folks, if you're not porting GOG Galaxy to Linux, you're missing out on a huge market through the Steam Deck
+1
Would love to see this on Steam Deck, bought a couple of game here that I would've love to take with me on the go.
+1 for GOG on linux here as well :)
+1 Waiting for my Steam Deck. I've just started to buy more and more games on GoG because of the great DRM free movement. But without Linux support I'm starting to regret that I bought some games like Cyberpunk 2077 (with preorder) on GoG instead of Steam. Please launch Galaxy on Steam OS 3.0.
Please dear GoG, make a linux version for galaxy.
I will soon switch to linux for basically everything and would love to have GoG on board with me, as i was always so fondly used to.
For me you never have to be perfect, just keep your heart and honest effort.
+1 for official linux client.

To those fellow penguins who read my comment: until GOG decide to release an official client (or not?), I gotta tell you two things:
• The Windows version of the client (2.0) runs almost perfect in Arch Linux. :D "Almost" because it lags a little when scrolling the info page of a game. Also, it doesn't get along with the tray in the panel, so after minimizing the program, it can't be maximized (Cinnamon) and the only course of action is to manually kill the program's PID. But other than these minor issues, the program runs just fine, if you really wanna run the GOG client.
• There's an unofficial native linux client called "minigalaxy" (available on AUR) which I like a lot more than the Windows version.
+1 GOG for linux ))
The answer you gave to supporting Steam Deck is rather disappointing. I don't want to install Windows just to use your brand of DRM. I want to be able to use the tuned up version of Arch Linux it comes with to use your brand of DRM.
FYI GOG, I won't be buying any more games from you until you release an official Linux client. GL.
i really need this. it is a nightmare to update games like e.g. cyberpunk manually (need to download 29 files!), and it seem the latest patch is not even available that way.
Adding another vote for a GOG Linux client
Was hoping to buy cyberpunk directly from GOG but I'll have to go with steam instead due to Linux support. It's about time in 2022 that companies start giving support to other PC systems other than windows. It's just 1% of the market, but it won't grow and Microsoft's monopoly won't end until other companies start caring. at least steam is doing something right.
I'm not mad there hasn't been even an alpha or beta build
for people in this long, but the lack of any news is disheartening.
Even Valve has realized they're better served by helping
and bolstering gaming on Linux and aside from the PR
embarrassment of a DRM storefront beating them
at their own game. It's just smart business when you
look at how Windows 11 is shaping up, that's why Valve
sailed right on ahead. But alas, a wish is only that
Please unleash the Galaxy client on the Steam Deck and on my beautiful Garuda OS install. :)
I'd really love this. I'm a huge fan of GOG and the classics that they offer. Having a client where I can also chat with my friends and pick out my favourite GOG games would be excelent. I run Linux Mint and Pop OS. Go go go!!
Galaxy on Steam Deck? would be amazing!
Epic games has Heroic 2.0 as an unofficial launcher for Linux. GOG, please make your own version so the steam deck can play your glorious games!!!
It wouldn't be so bad not having the client on Linux if I could get game updates when they are released. But the fact that the installers don't get updated for weeks makes it pretty obnoxious to try to use GOG for Linux gaming.
